The Baragana - Capacity and Resilience Circles
An Indigenous Australian initiative hosted by an international development agency Baragana is currently engaging among Aboriginal communities in regional and remote Queensland
Baragana provides a framework to engage men around culturally appropriate training, support, influence, mentoring and circles of support to bring change for the better to our communities.
Circles of support have already improved the lives of many people around the world across a wide range of issues. A circle of support is a group of people who come together regularly with a common purpose, who think and talk about, then agree and support actions that will further that purpose.
An Indigenous Australian initiative, facilitated by experienced Indigenous Australian coordinators:
•We know as a man, you have had difficulties and hard times.
•We know you want something different for how you are as a father, husband or partner or ex-partner.
•We know that becoming the man you want to be often needs time, support, advice and a framework to work within, and
•What we also know is that change for the better has to come from you - but also involves the help and support of others.
Established to become an ongoing locally owned mechanism for change, Baragana distinguish three circles that help people identify, talk about then practice supported behaviour change to reduce the influence of negative thoughts and actions across their lives and the lives of their family.
Culture Story Therapy is counselling support for individuals and/or groups delivered from the underlying belief that you are the expert in your own life. That your identity and connection to culture and community can provide benefits that span across your life and guide some of the fundamental principles, beliefs, assumptions and behaviours that influence your life.
As an in-community helping initiative, Culture Story Therapy is a guided framework which uses a set of practical tools to assist people and mentors in the community who want to help people in their community, in school or in a workplace.
Culture Story Therapy is an empowerment tool to help you find the words and tuition to help yourself or a person in need.
